The Inaugural 7 Mile Offshore Grand Prix
On June 21, 2022, Race World Offshore announced the addition of the Inaugural 7 Mile Offshore Gran Prix race. The recently renovated 7 Mile Bridge connecting the middle keys to the lower keys, will be the focus of this race as teams race alongside the seven-mile bridge.
Race fans can get an up-close and personal experience from the seven-mile bridge as race boats navigate a new course in the Gulf of Mexico. This race will kick off the boat racing season in the Sunshine State. The Inaugural 7 Mile is planned for April 28 – 30, 2023, in Marathon, Florida.
The official start of the race’s events is planned for 9 a.m. on Friday, April 28, and includes registration, the opening of dry pits, inspections, dunker testing, and the welcome party. This is followed by Saturday’s drivers’ meeting, the opening of cranes and ramps, a testing session, and a sunset VIP party. Sunday the 30th has an early start of 7:30 a.m. that includes physicals, chapel service, meetings, four races, an after party, and an awards presentation.
Clearwater Offshore Nationals
Following the Inaugural 7 Mile Offshore Grand Prix will be the 14th Annual Baystar Clearwater Offshore Nationals, with proposed dates of Friday, September 21, through Sunday, September 23, 2023. During this event, you can expect to see some of the biggest, fastest, and most impressive boats and teams in the waters of Clearwater Beach.
Clearwater Offshore Nationals starts at 9 a.m. on Friday with registration, the opening of dry pits, inspections, dunker testing, VIP Bar Tiki rooftop party, and Shephard’s kick-off party and DJ. The events continue at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday the 22nd with meetings, fueling, police escorts, registration, inspections, the opening of cranes and ramps, testing sessions, and briefings. By 6 p.m., live entertainment begins at Pier 60 followed by a VIP party.
Sunday is race day. There will be four, followed by another after-party and the awards presentation. Roughly 50,000 spectators and more than 2, 500 boats are expected to attend this exciting race.
Key West Offshore World Championship
Offshore Racing World Championships in Key West run November 5 – 12. Fans will gather to witness the world’s most experienced teams in offshore racing, making this race one of the most memorable. The Key West Offshore World Championship race is one of the longest powerboat races in the industry, running a week and a day.
Events during the world championships include the opening of Truman Waterfront Race Village, parades, a kickoff party, registration, inspections, testing, meetings, and nightly parties. Official races are expected to begin on Wednesday, November 8, and continue throughout the event. Races end on the 12th with four more races, a music concert, and an awards ceremony.
